My practice is unique in that I work with limited clients at a time so that I can give you my full attention. My coaching method is designed using an evidence-based, continous learning model structured to deliver results.
You receive customized 1:1 coaching tailored to your individual needs -- I do not take a blanket approach or make appealing generalizations. Guided by science, we take a deep dive together into who you are.
First, we have an initial 30 minute conversation to ensure I am a good fit to help you achieve your goals. After our initial consult, we will have a discovery session to get clear on what you want to achieve. With your goals and motivations clarified, I proceed with assessing your social and emotional intelligence (EQ). To do this, I apply a scientifically validated psychometric test called the EQ-i (don't worry, I'm trained and qualified to do this!) and I go over the results with you. This will tell me about your relationship with yourself, relationships with others, your emotional self-awareness and gives me deeper insight into your communication. After I review all of this with you, I then use your EQ assessment and the goals we co-created to design custom coaching sessions for you. The material is presented to you in a manner that is practical and conducive to achieving your goals. This new learning is the focus of our coaching sessions together, where we put your new knowledge into practice in order to transform it into a new skill.
I hope that you continue independently applying your learning once our work together is complete. It can feel awkward at first so to support you in this, I offer a free 15 minute call any time after your program to celebrate your successes (I am your biggest cheerleader!!) and to help you troubleshoot or unpack your attempts at applying your new skills.
The aim is that you walk away with real world skills and the ability to apply them to real life.
Emotional Intelligence illuminates one’s competence in identifying, understanding, using and responding to one’s and others' emotional states effectively. We will review the world's leading model of EQ to gain in-depth understanding of how emotions influence behaviours in key areas pertaining to your communication.
Social intelligence enables understanding of social situations that accurately interprets the situation and is paired with skills to moderate behaviour in a manner that appropriately suits the situation. We will see how emotional self-awareness aids us in moderating behaviour pertaining to your communication.
I studied human communication from a socio-psychological perspective which involves affect (feelings) behaviour (interactions) and cognition (thoughts).
I conceptualize interpersonal communication as: the social interaction by which we express and co-create meaning, establishing relationship between self and others others.
Intrapersonal communication looks at your self-talk and can allow us to work on developing your relationship with yourself.
The assessment tool that is applied is the EQ-i 2.0.
The EQ-i 2.0 is the world's leading measurement of socio-emotional intelligence and it is backed by over 20+ years of research by its founder, Dr. Reuben Bar-On. This instrument illuminates the interaction between a person and his or her internal/external social environments, providing scientifically reliable data enabling the prediction of behaviour, motivation and performance pertaining to the individual being assessed.
The tool examines 5 main competency areas which are further subdivided into sub-scales and how these are interrelated to understand one's socio-emotional functioning and overall well-being.
